David
S. Hornbrook, DDS, FAACD, Director of P.A.C.-live
David graduated from University of California at Los Angeles
School of Dentistry in 1986. He has been a pioneer in live-patient,
hands-on treatment programs and has mentored clinicians throughout
North America in live-patient programs. He has been a consultant
for numerous dental manufacturers and has been responsible for
the development and refinement of countless procedures used
daily in clinical dentistry. Examples of these procedures are
the Fiber-reinforced post and core, Anterior two-component resin-bonded
bridge, Luxatemp Veneer Provisional technique, and “2 x 2” speed
bonding for porcelain veneers. In his spare time, he enjoys
water skiing, riding his motorcycle, surfing, and spending time
with his wife, Tricia, and two sons, Phoenix and Brighton.

Michael Kozarski, DDS, Co-Director of
P.A.C.-live
Mike
acquired his DDS degree from University of Washington in 1989.
He received the Alpha-Omega award for graduating first in his
class, and is an honorary member of the Omicron Kappa Upsilon
Dental Society. Mike has been involved in live-patient treatment
programs for the past two years. He has been both an instructor
and a director, and maintains a thriving practice devoted to
aesthetic dentistry in Woodinville, WA. He is published in many
of the leading dental journals, and is considered by many to
be the rising star in aesthetic education, both a lecturer and
author. In his spare time, he enjoys his lovely wife, Cathy,
and his two sons, Corey and Christian. Mike is also an avid
golfer.

William
M. Dorfman, DDS, FAACD, Program Coordinator of P.A.C.-live
Bill Dorfman graduated from the University of the Pacific
School of Dentistry in 1983. He then went on to complete a
two-year residency at the Policlinique Dentaire in Lausanne,
Switzerland. Upon his return, he established an aesthetic
and general practice in the Beverly Hills, California area.
He is the author of the Smile Guide and has written numerous
articles. In 1990, he founded Discus Dental, Inc., and now
spends his time practicing dentistry, working at Discus Dental,
lecturing, and instructing at P.A.C.-live. He enjoys water
and snow skiing, working out, spending time with his beautiful
wife Evelyn, and his three daughters, the twins Charlie and
Georgie, and Anna.

Derric
DesMarteau, DDS
Derric received his DDS from the University of the Pacific
School of Dentistry in 1980. He is in both the Omicron Kappa
Upsilon honorary society, and the American Academy of Cosmetic
Dentistry. He is a former instructor of fixed prosthodontics
at the University of the Pacific School of Dentistry. As a
graduate of numerous aesthetic courses, Derric focuses his
Piedmont, California practice solely on cosmetic dentistry.
When he is not improving the smiles of his patients, he spends
his time as the team dentist to the Oakland Raiders and the
Golden State Warriors!

Rod
Gore, DDS
Rod Gore graduated from Northwestern University in 1987. He
received his accreditation from the American Academy of Cosmetic
Dentistry in 1995, and then founded the Scottsdale Center
for Cosmetic Dentistry. Rod has enjoyed instructing in hands-on,
live patient courses for nearly 2 years now. He is married
to Rebecca and they have a daughter and a son. In his free
time he enjoys water-skiing, golfing, running, and playing
with his kids.

Joseph
Harris, DDS
Joseph Harris graduated from the University of the Pacific
School of Dentistry in 1979, and owns a large aesthetic-based
practice in Phoenix, Arizona. He has been involved with aesthetic
courses for over three years, and believes that this endeavor
may truly change the future of dentistry. Joe’s first love
and priority is his family. His wife, Marcene, and four sons,
enjoy sharing time in all outdoor pursuits, including boating,
camping, fishing, and golf. Two of his sons are soon to pursue
dental careers.

James
Hastings, DDS
Jim graduated from the Indiana University School of Dentistry
more years ago than he is willing to admit. He has been involved
in hands-on teaching since 1994. In addition to his love of
cosmetic dentistry, ask him about flying, skydiving, backpacking,
or his new adventures in surfing. He is an accredited member
of the AACD, and is currently practicing in Sacramento, California.

Robert
Hughes, DDS
Bob graduated from Marquette School of Dentistry in 1979.
He worked in a group practice for five years and in 1985 he
began his own practice in Everett, Washington, his current
residence. His dedication to dentistry is evident, as he obtains
100+ continuation hours annually, with an emphasis on cosmetic
and rehabilitative dentistry. He has lectured and instructed
in many hands-on courses and also directs a dental assisting
school through his practice. He is a member of the American
Academy of General Dentistry, American Dental Association,
AACS, and the Washington State Dental Association.

Edward
Lowe, DDS
Ed obtained his dental degree at the University of British
Columbia in 1986. He established and directs the West End
Dental Centre, an exclusively aesthetic and restorative dental
practice in downtown Vancouver, Canada. Ed has taken, and
continues to take, numerous continuing education courses in
aesthetic dentistry and updates his knowledge of materials
and applications by constantly reviewing current literature.
He genuinely enjoys sharing his vast knowledge of dentistry
and helping others find passion in their profession. Ed and
his wife, Sharon, live in a large igloo with their sled dogs
in beautiful North Vancouver. Outside of dentistry, he enjoys
soccer, music, cooking, golf (he is a scratch golfer), and
his beautiful daughter, Sienna.

Robert
Maher, DDS
Bob Maher is a 1970 graduate of the University of the Pacific
School of Dentistry, where he was president of his senior
class. After graduation, he spent two years in the army and
was stationed at the Pentagon. He has attended and instructed
at countless post-graduate programs in aesthetic dentistry.
He served for seventeen years as a member of the Contra Costa
Peer review committee. For three years, he was its chairman
and was recognized as Peer review chairman of the year in
1997 for the 43 component state dental association. He and
his wife, Dorothy, have numerous interests outside of dentistry
ranging from teaching high performance driving for BMW, gardening,
car racing, photography, skiing, and backpacking. He recently
sold his practice in Northern California and started a new
practice in Palm Desert.

Robert
N. Marshall, DMD
Bob Marshall graduated from Tufts University School of Dental
Medicine in Boston, Massachusetts in 1979. He has been providing
state-of-the-art care in New Hampshire for seventeen years.
Bob has gained valuable experience as a clinical instructor
for various continuing education programs. He and his wife,
Martha, enjoy their children, as well as the outdoors.

David Mawyer, DDS
After graduating from the University of Tennessee in 1977,
Dave and his wife, Robbie, relocated to Montana, which enables
them to pursue outdoor activities and still practice dentistry.
His practice has become state-of-the-art and focuses on aesthetic
dentistry. Dave has been involved in hands-on, live-patient
programs since 1996, in both aesthetics and lasers. He wants
to help others find the same level of satisfaction from dentistry
that he has. In his spare time, Dave coaches youth sports.
He also enjoys Montana’s outdoors by kayaking, hiking, fishing,
hunting, and snowboarding,s with Robbie and their three sons.

Brian McKay, DDS
Brian graduated from the University of Southern California
School of Dentistry in 1980. After returning to his native
Seattle, he founded and managed a 14 chair, fee-for-service,
multi-specialty group practice. In January 1997, he decided
to sell the practice and open an aesthetic based, state-of-the-art
practice, overlooking downtown Seattle. Brian has been involved
in teaching live-patient hands-on courses for two years, and
receives great satisfaction by helping others truly enjoy
dentistry. His lovely wife Debi and he have three children,
Tim, Kelli, and Scott. Brian is an avid golfer and a wild-eyed
skier.

Mark Montgomery, DMD
Mark Montgomery is from Salem, Oregon. Prior to dental school,
he was a YMCA aquatic director, commercial fisherman, and
zoology major at Oregon State University. He is a graduate
of the Oregon Health Science University School of Dentistry.
Mark enjoys philosophy, theater, and writing poetry. His favorite
activities include tennis, golf, and snow skiing, especially
with his two sons, ages 9 and 11. Mark has studied extensively
in the areas of TMJ, orthodontics, and occlusion-based esthetic
dentistry. He has had a restorative practice in Salem since
1980.

Ronald G. Ritsco, D.M.D., M.S.
Dr. Ronald Ritsco received his DMD from the University of
Saskatchewan, Canada in 1993. Following graduation he was
in full time private practice before entering into a three-year
graduate program in Prosthodontics at the University of Texas
Health Science Center in San Antonio, Texas. He completed
his Certificate in Prosthodontics and a Masters of Science
in Prosthodontics from the School of Biomedical Graduate Sciences
in 1996. Most recently, he was an Associate Professor in the
Department of Prosthodontics at the University of Saskatchewan
where he also served as the Director of Implant Prosthodonitcs.
Currently, Dr. Ritsco is the Director of Scientific and Professional
Services for Ivoclar North America. His primary responsibility
is to manage and carry out extramural clinical research projects,
create technical documentation of current and new technology,
and is involved in teaching in the Ivoclar Education Department.
Dr. Ritsco is the author and co-author of several scientific
publications and has been awarded multiple scientific and
clinical achievement awards. He has lectured nationally, internationally
and is currently a member of the American Academy of Cosmetic
Dentistry, American College of Prosthodonitcs, International
College of Prosthodontics, American Academy of Implantology,
and the American Academy of Dental Materials.

John Roberts, DDS
John graduated as a member of Tau Kappa Upsilon Honor Fraternity
at the University of the Pacific in 1995. Before joining his
dad in the family practice, he volunteered in a clinic in
Nepal to experience third world dentistry. Guided by his brother,
Matt Roberts, John became involved in live-patient, hands-on
courses, and has enjoyed the opportunities given to him and
his practice by the AACD ever since. John spends his spare
time kayaking, golfing, skiing, and likes to play hockey.

Brad Salter, DDS
After a 5 year career as a physical therapist at a Dallas
Sports Medicine Facility, Brad Salter decided to go to the
Baylor College of Dentistry. He graduated in 1986. He then
built a family practice in Rockwell, Texas, a suburb of Dallas.
In 1995, Brad began his training in aesthetic dentistry and
eventually became an instructor. He is excited about helping
others find as much pleasure through an aesthetic-based practice
as he has. Brad is a former nationally ranked competitive
power lifter. He and his wife, Paula, have three children.
They love spending time together with their horses, and they
enjoy traveling, especially to the beach.

Paul Thompson, DDS
Paul Thompson is a 1979 graduate of Loyola University in Chicago.
Since that time, he has been practicing in Manchester, New
Hampshire. His initial years in practice were limited to living
in fear of insurance companies, and trying to provide quality
care, in spite of them. Five years ago, he decided to follow
the road less traveled by becoming an insurance-free, aesthetic,
state-of-the-art dentist. Paul has been involved in live-patient,
hands-on courses for over two years. In his spare time, he
enjoys golf, bicycling, skiing, cold beer, and the Boston
Red Sox (not necessarily in that order). He is very grateful
to his wife, Amy, and his three sons, Brian, David, and Patrick
for allowing him the opportunity to participate in P.A.C.

Dennis J. Wells, DDS
Dennis graduated from the University of Tennessee Dental School
in 1983. He is accredited with the AACD and currently is president
of the Tennessee Chapter of the AACD. In addition, he is an
examiner for the AACD accreditation process. Dennis maintains
a private practice in Nashville limited to aesthetic-restorative
dentistry. His practice includes many celebrities and entertainers
in the country music field. In his spare time he enjoys music,
water skiing, and motorcycles.
