The
Person I Admire Is My Mother
by Diana Hernandez |
Hi. My name is Diana Hernandez. I am 14-years-old
and I am in the 8th grade. I go to Hawthorne Middle School.
The person I admire is my mother. Her name is Marisa Hernandez
and she is 31 years old. The reason I admire my mom is because
she has gone through a lot in her life. These are some things
I will be talking to you about. My mother and the way she acts
toward other people. What kind of mother she is to my brother
and I and finally, what she has gone through in her life that
I admire.
First, I would like to talk about how my mom acts toward other
people that I admire. She acts very enjoyable toward other people.
She treats others with respect so she can get respect back.
My mother is very caring with other people especially elderly.
If you ever see my mother you will never see her with a sad
look on her face.
Secondly, I would like to say is that my mother is a very hard-working
mother. My mother takes her work very seriously. She works hard
to try to get her kids what they need. She also works hard to
keep a roof over our heads and have food on our table. That
is another reason I admire my mother. My mother gives us good
values and teaches us right from wrong.
Thirdly, I would like to say that my mother is very loving and
caring. My mother has always been there for my brother and I.
I know in my heart that my mother cares about my brother and
me. Whenever I am angry or despondent because of something,
my mother would try to erase what happened and would try instead
to work things out.
Finally, I am going to talk about what she has gone through
in her life. My mother cam from a poor-working family. She was
born in El Salvador. My grandmother had eight kids and had to
take care of every one of her kids. My grandmother had to have
all her kids working. My mother had to work at age 5 after school.
Sometimes, she missed school to help my grandmother. When my
mother was 12-years-old, she moved from El Salvador to the Unites
States of America. When my mother came to the U.S., she started
school right away. She went up to 10th grade and she was 16
years old. Later that year, she got pregnant with me. She moved
out of her house at age 18 and got married. She went back to
school to become a Dental Assistant. At age 21, she became pregnant
with my brother, Christopher.
One of the most important things that mean a lot to me is that
my mother chose to go to night school to obtain a high school
diploma so that she could show her children how important school
is. Another thing that was very important to my mom was when
she became an American Citizen. I was very proud of her. At
age 29, she became a RDA, which stands for Register Dental Assistant.
That same year, she filed for divorce. After coming from a poor-working
family, she had to pick herself up and become the head of the
house. That is why I admire my mother because she had gone through
a lot in her life. Nowadays you will see her happy living her
life as an independent mother.
